It was in the air at the shop Saturday morning, “SPEED” you could smell it and taste it! It was in the driver too, he had a certian swagger by the afternoon that was un mistaken, rightfully so. It came out in practice, three laps and Driver X was confident (thats what we like). Qualifing came and “fast time” was set by the X Team.
Here comes the the roll and the pick for the dash position, in front of 6000 fans, “Jon would you like to take the challange and start at the back of the feature,” there is the swag I mentioned, “hell yes”. So here we go, green flag and Jon jr rips off the dash win to start the night. Heat race gets stuck in traffic ends up fifth.
Feature time, back start for the challange, “let er eat!” Jon was on a terror down low, passed the 55, 99 and 39 quickly. Getting toward the front now and its still early in the race when a slower car slides up high and the decides to come back down low in front of Jon of course then bringing him all the way to the back. With that Driver X poured it on and drove all the way back up to finish third.
